It is time to create a Connection to interface with Tableau. For this tutorial, you only need a live Tableau server if the plan is to publish the data. Otherwise, this will serve as a simulation for the creation of the raw Tableau object known as a "Hyper File".

Step 1: Add an HTTP Connection

To add a new Connection or view an existing one, click the Connections tab on the navigation pane on the left side of the page.

  • Click on the (+) button in the lower, right-hand corner.

  • Under BizApp, select Tableau for this demonstration.

  • Enter the account information.

📓 The Tableau URL & Version fields auto-populate.

  • Scroll down to confirm the Environments for "DEV" and "PROD" are enabled.

  • Click the corresponding boxes, as necessary.

  • Save the Connection.
