In the prior steps, two OneCloud Chains were created that connect with BlackLine. Now it is time to promote a Chain to the "PROD" Environment.
OneCloud has the ability to enable Connections for certain Environments. This feature allows certain Connections to be available for only certain Environments and disabled in others across Workspaces.
This tutorial works with the "File Utilities" Connection and the "Load Bank Balance Data" Chain.
Step 1: Enable Connection for the Appropriate Environment
Select "Connections" from the left-side panel options.
Click the 🔽 to the right of the "File Utilities" Connection.
Scroll down to view the enabled "Environments".
If needed, click the box(es) of the desired Environment(s) to activate.
Save the changes
📓 Both Environments were enabled prior to this recording. Connections may be enabled at any time.
Step 2: Select the Chain to Promote
If necessary, navigate to the available Chains by selecting "Build" from the left-side panel options.
Determine the Chain that should be promoted.
In this example it's "Load Bank Balances".
Click the ellipse icon on the right side of the selected chain, and choose Promote.
This prompts the Promotion Wizard.
Step 2A: Promotion Wizard
In the Promotion Wizard, users must select an Environment to promote, choose the Connections for the Chains in said Environment, and Review the changes.
In the first window, select the Environment.
Set the "Environment to Promote to" as "PROD"
If desired, enable schedules to the promoted Chain.
In the second window, map the Connections.
Select the appropriate Connection based upon the target Environment.
Here, each Connection matches its namesake & the Runners are CloudRunners.
In the third window, review the promotion settings.
Click "Promote" to establish the new settings
📓 Only if Workspace resources (files) have been leveraged will a step prior to the review will be shown in the workflow to include these in the promotion.
⚠️ Enable Connections by Environment
When promoting a Connection a warning message may appear if the Connection is not enabled for a particular Environment, such as with the Anaplan Connection below.
Step 3: Publish & Run
With the newly promoted Chain open, publish and run the Chain, if necessary.
