Extract dynamic data from an Anaplan Model View

The following example demonstrates executing an OneCloud Chain to dynamically extract data from an Anaplan Model View.

To create this on your own, follow these simple steps:

1. Create a new OneCloud Chain.

2. Add an Anaplan BizApp -> Retrieve Cell Data for a View (CSV) Command to extract the exact contents of an Anaplan View. Note that the View ID can be retrieved by using the Anaplan Command: List Views Command.

3. Add the File Utilities BizApp -> List File Content Command to see the Anaplan View output from the prior Command.

Practical Use Case:

Imagine being able to extract data from an Anaplan Module View without a blocking action to update another system. With this new OneCloud Command, now that is possible. Note that extractions can be scoped by Pages to extract just a subset of data in any particular Anaplan View.

Get & Set Anaplan Model Current Period settings

The following example demonstrates executing an OneCloud Chain to update the Anaplan Model Current Period settings.

Use OneCloud to get and set the Anaplan Model Current Period configuration

To create this on your own, follow these simple steps:

1. Create a new OneCloud Chain.

2. Add the Runtime Input Command to capture the current period. Note that this input can be manually entered at runtime or passed in as a variable from another OneCloud Chain.

3. Add the Anaplan BizApp -> Get the Current Period Command to fetch the latest period. Add your Anaplan Workspace and Model directly or as variables as in the example below. Note that this is optional, but a leading practice so the before and after state can be captured for audit purposes.

4. Add the Handlebars BizApp -> Handlebars Render Text Template Command to display the results of the prior Command. Note that CalendarType, LastDay, and PeriodText are each selected and subsequently get added to the template.

5. Add the Anaplan BizApp -> Set the Current Period Command to set the period value captured in the first Command, Runtime Input.

6. Copy the Command created in step 3, Get the Current Period Command as a confirmation that the Anaplan setting updated.

7. Copy the Command created in step 4, Handlebars Render Text Template, to display the current period values of the particular Anaplan Model. Note that the Current Period values need to be updated to correspond to the second Get the Current Period Command.

Practical Use Case:

With this new capability, an Anaplan administrator can dynamically set the current time period across all the Anaplan Models that they need to administer. This process can be run in parallel to ensure all Anaplan Models reflect the same value simultaneously. Additionally, this process can be scheduled to run at a precise time and even apply date math variable transformation to make the update even more dynamic.
