This tutorial will showcase some simple transformations that can be performed on any tabular dataset as an inline operation to a OneCloud Chain.

Step 1: Edit Chain and Add Transformations

Edit the Chain "Upload Text File to Anaplan".

  • Delete the Connector between the Commands "Get Data" and "Upload File".

💡 Hint: Double-click on the connector and select delete from the popup menu.

  • Using the BizApp selector on the left, search for the Tabular Transformation BizApp and select the following Commands:

    • Add Row Numbers

    • Column Filter

    • Filter Rows

Step 2: Connect & Organize Commands

  • If necessary, organize the Chain.

    • Create space for the three (3) Tabular Transformation BizApp Commands by moving the Anaplan "Upload File" Command far below "Get Data".

    • Click-and-drag "Add Row Numbers" to a position below "Get Data"

    • Repeat with the "Column Filter" and "Filter Rows" Commands.

  • Connect the Commands.

    • On the "Get Data" Command, click-and-hold the 🔽 at the bottom of the circle. Drag to the 🔽 at the top of the "Add Row Numbers" Command.

    • Repeat in succession until the Chain extends from "Get Data" to "Upload File".

Step 3: Tabular Transformation to Add Row IDs

  • Use the double-click or pencil-icon method to open "Add Row Numbers".

📓 Note: If a caution box appears, warning there is not a Connection, select the Connections icon from the left-side navigation pane. Then, edit the Tabular Transformation Chain by enabling the Environments for this Workspace.

  • Set the Input File to the Response by clicking the Get Data dropdown arrow and choosing "Response".

  • Leave Output file blank (only used when the output needs to be written to disk).

  • Check the option to Preview results.

  • Leave the default Delimiter as "Comma".

  • Save the Command.

Step 4: Tabular Transformation to Strip a Column

Strip the column "PKG_TYPE":

  • Select the Command Column Filter.

  • Set the Input File to the Response by clicking the Add Row Numbers dropdown arrow and choosing "Add Row Numbers Output".

  • Leave Output file blank.

📓 Note: Output files are only used when the output needs to be written to disk.

  • Check the option to Preview results.

  • Leave the default comma delimiter.

  • Set the Pattern Type to Exact.

  • Leave Inverse unchecked.

  • Set the Pattern to "PKG_TYPE".

  • Save the Command.

Step 5: Tabular Transformation to Filter Rows

Filter rows that contain the value "Profit %" or "Margin %".

  • Select the Command Filter Rows.

  • Set the Input File to "Column Filter Output" by clicking the dropdown arrow to the right of Column Filter.

  • Leave Output file blank.

  • Leave the default comma delimiter.

  • Set the Find pattern to remove any record containing "Profit %" or "Margin %"

    💡 Hint: Copy the string - (?:Profit \%|Margin \%)

  • Set Match pattern type to Regular Expression.

  • Set Search Columns to "2" (this represents the 3rd column, but is zero-based).

  • Check the option to "Preview Results".

  • Leave the remaining options blank or unchecked.

  • Save the Command.

Step 6: Change Data Source for the Anaplan File Upload

  • Edit the Command "Upload File".

  • Change the name of the Command to "Upload Filtered Data".

  • Change the Source file to "Filter Row Output" by clicking the dropdown arrow to the right of Filter Rows.

  • Save the Command.

Step 7: Publish & Run the Chain

Publish ➡️ Execute ➡️ Run Chain.

  • To publish a Chain, click "Publish" near the upper-right corner.

  • Optionally, add a Publish Chain Comment. For this example, type "Added Transformations".

  • Once published, the "Execute" button becomes active. Click it.

  • Once executed, the "Run Chain" button is activated. Click it.

  • The Chain will animated when it is running.

  • Click on the Anaplan Upload File Command.

  • When the Chain has been run, the outputs will be available to view.

Step 8: View the New Data Output

  • Login to Anaplan and find the Import Data Source "SIMPLE_FACT.csv"
